WESTRAY TACKETT

Born in Brooklyn, NY, composer Westray Tackett grew up playing classical guitar and quickly became a multi-instrumentalist. He graduated with a B.A. in Music and English from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and studied film scoring at UCLA in Los Angeles. 

One of his first commissions was writing original music for Nick Hutchison’s adaptations of Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the McCoy Theatre in Memphis. At 20, Westray won the Coco-Cola remix competition for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, where his writing for tv and film began. His most recent work can be heard in projects such as Blade Runner 2049 (2017), The Way You Look Tonight (Original Film Score - 2018), and The Elder Scrolls - Blades (2018). In 2020, Westray composed an original ballet for the Richmond Ballet Company. His compositions are also used in advertising for Deloitte,  Mastercard, and numerous progressive political campaigns nationwide. 

From 2017 to 2019, Westray served as the Music Technology Ambassador and Guitar Teaching Artist at Young Musicians Foundation where he organized after school music programs for middle and high school students across Los Angeles. Previously, he served as a Voice and Theatre Instructor at Children In Harmony in Memphis, TN.

Westray’s work ranges from classical and orchestral arrangements, to modern hip hop and electronic production. Based in Los Angeles, he is currently accepting new multi-media projects.
